As an online entrepreneur, traffic is the lifeblood of your business. It is the difference between simply having a website and owning a profitable online business. My mother always tells me, “the best things in life are free.” The same applies to traffic. “How do I get this magical free traffic for my website?” you ask. Let me count the ways:

ARTICLE MARKETING

Article marketing is one of the most effective ways to drive free traffic to your website. It gives you multiple benefits:

• Improves search engine rankings
• Establishes you as an expert in your niche
• Builds trust with your visitors
• Generates incoming links to your website
• Establishes your brandon the web

All of these benefits help me to drive free traffic to my website, and it will do the same for you. You’re probably thinking, “geez, if it’s that simple, why isn’t everybody doing it?” Article marketing is a very simple strategy, it’s just not an easy one. Not everyone has the time, energy, or ability to churn out quality content on a consistent basis. One way to overcome this difficulty is to hire a quality content writer to write articles for you. Of course, if you do that, then the traffic is no longer free. However, sometimes it is wise to trade time for money.

FORUM MARKETING

This, in my opinion, is the most underutilized free traffic generation strategy. It has really helped me get targeted,free traffic for my website, Forums are everywhere. Here is how it works. To find a forum in your niche, simply google it. Most forums allow you to create a signature with a link included. “Guess what that link should be? Of course, the link goes to your site, blog, affiliate link, or wherever you are sending traffic. If, and it’s a big if, your contribution to the forum are meaningful, it will:

1. Give you credibility in your niche community
2. Generate incoming links to your site
3. Encourage active posters to visit and discuss your site
4. Establish your brand on the web
5. Possibly teach you something new about your niche
6. Connect you with like minded people

As you can see, forum marketing is an excellent way to drive free traffic to your website.

Do NOT spam forums! It will ruin your credibility and reputation. Also, do not ‘sell’ in any forums. Quality participation and your signature link will do the job for you!

SOCIAL MARKETING

Social networking is exploding, as evidenced by the rise of sites like Facebook, Youtube, MySpace, Twitter, etc. This is the next frontier of online marketing, and a great place for newbies to jump in. It is fairly new and growing and changing each day. As such, I limit my social marketing to the same strategies I use in forum marketing. BLOGGING

Can blogging provide free traffic for my website? Yes it can, provided you are diligent with posting fresh content often. A blog can be an excellent source of free traffic for your site. You can even drive free traffic to your free standing blog using the strategies above, although I wouldn’t recommend it.

TRAFFIC EXCHANGES

Traffic exchanges have been around since the advent of the internet. They are still effective, however they usually don’t provide as much targeted traffic as the other strategies do. I do use them for free traffic to my website because there are some that will generate free, targeted traffic.
